The Tholus
The Tholus (Carlotto) |
This very large mound lies southeast of the
City and the Face. Clearly visible in at least three Viking frames, the
Tholus has some interesting and inexplicable details. These
include two groves that wind half way up the mound. One groove appears
to lead into an opening in its side. The object is completely surrounded
by a wide ditch or mote resembling prehistoric earthworks found in the
British Isles (Carlotto 1997).
